The Oklahoma State Department of Health released their weekly epidemiology report on Wednesday.
Data shows that throughout the week of September 26-October 2, 9,319 new COVID-19 cases, 12,377 recoveries and 264 deaths were documented. Since early 2020, 35,257 individuals in the state have been hospitalized due to COVID. CDC COVID Data Tracker lists that 14,445 individuals have been tested in the last 7 days. The average age of cases was 39 years and average age of individuals who died was 73 years. The youngest case was less than a year old while the oldest case was 100+ years. The youngest to die from COVID was less than 15 years while the oldest to die was 100+ years.
From September 28-October 4, 66,981 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered. This includes at least 16,391 rounds of the first dose and 20,844 Oklahomans becoming fully vaccinated. As of October 4, 1,611,506 Oklahomans are fully vaccinated and 3,460,741 vaccine doses have been administered.
For Kay County, 51.4% of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, which is a .4% increase compared to last week. The percentage of fully vaccinated individuals in the county is 43.4%, which is a .6% increase from last week. For fully vaccinated percentages for surrounding counties, Grant is at 43.9%, Garfield at 50.9%, Noble at 63.7%, Pawnee at 50.3% and Osage at 33.9%.
So far for October, the amount of vaccinated people who got COVID, also referred to as “Breakthrough Cases” is 9. The number of unvaccinated COVID-19 cases to occur so far this month is 532. As for hospitalizations, the number of non-vaccinated people hospitalized in the last 30 days due to COVID is 1,981, the number of vaccinated people hospitalized is 232 and 75 partially vaccinated individuals.
The Delta variant has been the dominant form of COVID at Oklahoma’s with 5,549 cases since January. As for other variants since January, there have been 471 of the Alpha variant, 7 of the Beta variant, 35 of the Gamma variant, 2 of the Eta variant, 15 of the Iota variant, 1 of the Kappa variant, 47 of the Lambda variant and 15 of the Mu variant.
