Ellsworth Lee Chase The Bear, 72 passed away on November 11, 2017. He was a resident of Ponca City and currently resided in Inola, OK. He was born on August 25, 1945 to Edward Long Fox Chase The Bear and his wife Louise Widow Chase The Bear. He met the love of his life, Ellis Kemble in the 1970’s while at Haskell University in Lawrence, Kansas. They were married in 1976. The couple had one beloved son, Jarrod. Ellsworth enjoyed drawing and painting. He had a talent for painting on skulls and making drums. He was a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux tribe of South Dakota as well as the episcopal church. His favorite hobby was spending time with his grandbabies. He liked Clint Eastwood movies and listening to Credence Clearwater Revival albums.
He is survived by his son Jarrod (Regina) Chase The Bear of Ponca City, grandson Nathaniel Chase The Bear and granddaughter Lynnea Chase The Bear both of Ponca City, Sister Ethel Long Fox and Sister Elvira Driving Hawk both of South Dakota, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister Martha Cozad of Lawton.
A public viewing will be held at Grace Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 15th from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. also on Thursday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
