The Salvation Army announces relocation and Christmas opportunities

The Salvation Army announces a new location which will offer social services to residents of Kay County.

The new address is 111 W. Comanche, Ponca City. The target date for opening the office is Nov. 15.

Volunteers are needed to help with social services.

In July 2016, The Salvation Army transitioned into a service extension. While programs and services have changed, emergency and utility assistance and Christmas programs, including Angel Tree, which provides gifts and clothing to children in need at Christmas, are still being offered.

The Salvation Army is committed to helping individuals and families in Kay County who are in need. As always, funds raised in Kay County will remain local to help our neighbors. All donations mailed/delivered to our Service Center location will stay in Kay County and be used here.

The Red Kettle Campaign traditionally begins in November, providing much-needed funds for less fortunate individuals and families. Funds raised during the Red Kettle Campaign provide 44 percent of the funds needed to provide emergency assistance.

This year, The Salvation Army needs your help to ring the bell to help make Christmas possible for those who turn to The Salvation Army for help. We need a Red Kettle Coordinator as well as many individuals, families, Sunday School classes, civic and school groups and more to ring the bell at various locations across Ponca City.

If you can volunteer with The Salvation Army in Ponca City, please call (405) 254-1166. You may leave a message if necessary.

We are very grateful to the volunteers who have stepped up to help with Angel Tree registration to ensure many children who might not have a Christmas this year are able to have a Merry Christmas. Angel Trees with Angels for adoption will soon be out in the community.

If you have any questions regarding our move or transition to a Service Center, please contact Shirley Logue at (405) 254-1166 or email [email protected]
