Saturday’s Drug Take Back at Walgreen’s was a success.

Sgt. Jerry Hall of the Ponca City Police Department, with the assistance of some volunteers, collected 128 pounds of unwanted medication. Proper disposal of unused medication saves lives and protects the environment, the department said.

The medication collected will be stored securely at the Ponca City Police Department until it is properly disposed of.

The Drug Take Back program is a national Drug Enforcement Agency program. The Ponca City Police Department sponsors a collection event twice annually. In addition, there is always a collection box in the lobby of the Police Department, provided by the DEA for proper disposal in between the collection events.
