Due to staffing shortages, the Washington Pre-K Center in Ponca City will transition to Distance Learning beginning Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021. It will reopen again on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021. One day is a holiday, Sept. 6, and one day is a Professional Development Day, Sept. 13, so students would not have been in school on those days.

Principal Tina Fisher said iPads and materials will be sent home with students on Wednesday, Sept. 1. “Teachers will post to their Facebook pages or class DoJo pages,” said Fisher. “If your child is currently in isolation or quarantine, please call the school and we will make arrangements for materials to be collected at 580-767-8080.”

PCPS Superintendent Shelley Arrott stated, “We certainly did not want to make this decision, but currently we have many staff members out who are affected by COVID-19 or other health issues. Thanks for your patience and understanding, but to ensure students are supervised and safe, we must have staff available.”

Meals will be offered to all students attending Washington Pre-K. Meals may be picked up at the CNP office, 1201 West Grand Avenue, between 11 a.m. to noon. Meals must be pre-ordered through Tamra Raulston by 2 p.m. the day before and Friday for a Monday meal. CNP will provide lunch and breakfast for the next day at the same time.

Raulston can be contacted at 718-3830 or emailed at [email protected]. All students will eat free.
