Highway Patrol issues report on accident at Pecan and SH11

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued this information on Monday night’s accident at Pecan Road and State Highway 11 at 9:36 p.m.:

Danielle Kerr, 28, of Shidler, was transported by Ponca City Emergency Medical Services to Alliance Health of Ponca City and was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries. A 12-year-old girl of Shidler, whose name was withheld because of her age, also was transported by Ponca City EMS to Alliance Health. She was admitted in stable condition with arm and head injuries.

A 73-year-old man from Ralson was airlifted by Air Evac to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa and admitted in critical condition with  head, trunk and arm injuries. A 61-year-old woman from Ralston also was airlifted by Air Evac to St. John’s hospital in Tulsa and admitted in critical condition with head, arm, leg, and trunk injuries. Their names were not released pending notification of next of kin.

The Highway Patrol reported that a 2013 Honda driven by Kerr was eastbound on SH 11 and a 1979 Ford F250 pickup driven by the man from Ralston was southbound on Pecan. The driver of the truck failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by Kerr’s vehicle, the Patrol said.

The Patrol reported that the Honda was equipped with airbags, which deployed. The occupants also were using their seatbelts. The truck did not have airbags and the occupants were not using seatbelts.

The driver of the truck was pinned for 30 minutes before being freed by the Ponca City Fire Department. The passenger was ejected 25 feet, the Patrol reported.

Troopers are continuing their investigation on the condition of the truck’s driver and the cause of the collision.

In addition to emergency crews from Ponca City Fire Department and  the Ponca City Police Department, the Highway Patrol was also assisted by the Kay County Sheriff’s Department.
