As a cold front moves into the state, some severe weather is possible after 4 p.m. today, Ponca City’s Emergency Management Director Paula Cain says.

Threats in the Slight Risk area will include winds up to 70 mph, tennis-ball size hail and possibly a few tornadoes, Cain said.

“This will include counties in north central and northeast Oklahoma,” Cain said. “We will be watching the amount of moisture that moves into the state today, as this will impact instability and therefore the tornado chances.  Although the tornado risk is Low, tornadoes are fairly common this time of year, so make sure to review your emergency plans.”

The rest of the week is looking gorgeous, with dry conditions and cooler temps, Cain said.
