OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma state Sen. Connie Johnson says she’ll join the Oklahoma Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty on a tour of death row at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.

Johnson says the tour scheduled for Oct. 9 and will include looks at the execution chamber and the burial grounds at the prison.

Johnson is a Democrat from Oklahoma County and says the tour will provide "an up close and personal view" of the death penalty. She says she’s worked to show state lawmakers and the public "the injustice and outrageous expense" of the death penalty.
