‘Seasons of Aging!’ kicking off at Senior Center

“Seasons of Aging!,” a new series about the relationship stages between adult children and parents, will begin Saturday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ponca City Senior Center.

This informative four-part series will deal with the joys and challenges of aging, as each season of life is unique and special, and many times the journey takes some unexpected twists and turns.

The first session in the series is titled “Spring,” as it can be a beautiful season of friendships with adult children, responsibilities lifted, and role changes.  The next three sessions will be held in January, March and May of 2018.

Each session will provide the opportunity to hear a wonderful speaker and receive valuable community information.

Kicking off the “Spring” series will be keynote speaker Bruce McIntyre, sharing his expert guidance and warm humor on aging.  McIntyre serves as the Executive Director of the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma and is the author of numerous books, including “Thrive Anyway,” “Parkinson Positive,” and “Graceful Transitions.”

“Mr. McIntyre presents to thousands of people each year, and we are blessed to share him with our seniors,” said Marie Trenary, Senior Center Program Specialist.  “Following our keynote you will enjoy several humorous skits, agency information, lunch, and — as always — door prizes.”

The event is sponsored by the Ponca City Resource Group and event partners include the Ponca City Park and Recreation Department, Ascension Living Via Christi, Humanity Hospice, and Ponca City Nursing and Rehab.
