Nancy was born in Ponca City on October 18, 1949 to Myron Leroy Chamberlin and Gwendolyn Reola Webb. She was raised in Ponca City, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1967. After high school, Nancy worked for Beechcraft aircraft manufacturing in Wichita, where she worked until the late 1970’s. While in Wichita, Nancy was blessed with her daughter, Sara. Nancy returned to Ponca City to live near her loving family and went to work as a secretary for Conoco, serving dutifully until her retirement. Every detail was important to Nancy. She took great care in every activity, whether in the office taking shorthand notes, traveling regularly with Sara to soccer tournaments, researching her family’s history, going fishing or tending to her beautiful flowers and plants. Anyone who encountered Nancy knew immediately of her love for animals. As a result of this passion, Nancy spent some time as Director of the Ponca City Humane Society. She could never pass up a lost, abandoned or injured animal without stopping to offer care. Family and friends were often gifted with animals to foster and love. Dancing the two-step (sometimes by moonlight in the driveway) also brought joy to Nancy’s life. Nothing, however, brought as much joy to Nancy as her family and loved ones. Becoming a grandma was the highlight of Nancy’s life. “Gigi” enjoyed playing with and spoiling her grandchildren as often as possible. Later in life she met a neighbor, who provided close companionship in recent years. Nancy will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her partner Mark Johnson of Ponca City, daughter Sara Sheets and husband Les of Edmond, OK, grandchildren: Isabella, Levi, and Olivia; siblings: Glenda Phillips and husband Bill, Virginia Lessert, John Chamberlin and wife Sharon, Teresa Lewis and husband David, Jim Chamberlin and wife Maureen, all of Ponca City, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joe Chamberlin, and brother in law M.G. Lessert.
In honor of Nancy, we ask that you provide extra love and affection to the pets in your lives today.
