Kildare Fire Department hosting fish fry Saturday

Team Radio Marketing Group - September 12, 2017 1:51 pm

The Kildare Volunteer Fire Department will have its fifth annual fish from at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the fire station in Kildare, at Church Street and 11th Street.

Firefighters will serve fish, chicken, beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and a drink for a donation to the department.

The money raised will help building local matching funds for grants to build a new fire station/community building. The department plans to build a new, larger fire station in a new location. It will not only house fire apparatus, but will have a training/community room with rest rooms and a kitchen. The building could be used to shelter community residents after local natural or manmade disasters, such as ice storms or tornados. The room could also be available for meetings, reunions and parties.

Firefighters and directors are selling tickets for a chance  to win a Remington Versa Max 12 gauge shotgun worth $1,066. The Versa Max will be black synthetic with a 28-inch barrel, but can be upgraded to a preferred camo design for less than $100. Tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20, and can be purchased at the fish fry, at the annual meeting in November or from any Kildare firefighters.

For more information, contact Fire Chief Travis Harris at (580) 763-7203 or any Kildare firefighter.
