Reba Jewel (McEnany) Swopes of Ponca City passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. She was 90 years old.

Reba J. Swopes was born on March 23, 1927 to Ralph E. McEnany and Bessie Mae McEnany in Fletcher, OK. The family moved to Ponca City, OK where Reba graduated from Ponca City High School in 1945. She worked at Kress with Kenneth C. Pennington and they were later married on August 8, 1948. They had two children, Linda J Nichols and Pamela J Smith. Kenneth preceded her in death.

She was a very knowledgeable pharmacy tech for many years. She married Robert G. Swopes on January 21, 1977. They loved bowling, traveling, camping and enjoying the grandchildren until his death on July 1, 1996. Her passion was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to the holidays with her family. One of her most favorite foods was family caught fried fish, fried potatoes with onion and pork and beans. She loved collecting David Winters houses and teapots.

Reba is survived by her daughters, Linda Nichols of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Pam and husband Jim Smith of Toronto, Kansas, grandchildren, Chris and Tina Nichols of Parker, Colorado, Jennifer and Eric Fisher of Littleton, Colorado, Jeff James of Marion, Kansas, Jeromy and Shannon James of Marion, Kansas, Casey and Tomia Smith of Kearney, Missouri, Christie Conditt of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Amy and Chris Wilson of Enid, Oklahoma, and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce McGowen of Ponca City and several nieces and nephews.

Reba is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Bessie McEnany, brothers, Eugene McEnany, Bill McEnany, sister, Lois Evans, and numerous other family members.

A family visitation will be held at Trout Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017. A funeral ceremony to remember Reba will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City with Pastor Jon Petty officiating. Burial will follow the ceremony at Resthaven Memorial Park.
