OBI holding blood drives to help Harvey victims

The Oklahoma Blood Institute has put out a call for help.  ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED NOW TO HELP.

“We’ve asked for your help here at home, and O-negative donors and platelet donors continue to answer the call to save lives,” said OBI spokeswoman Jessy Dershem.  “Now, our neighbors in South Texas and Louisiana need help.  Hurricane Harvey and mandatory evacuation orders mean blood center operations will stop in those areas.”

Please help OBI meet this need and donate.  Stop by a mobile drive and help our neighbors by giving blood or platelets.  Call 1-877-340-8777 to schedule an appointment.

Here are our locations for blood drives in Ponca City this week :

Wednesday, Aug. 30 Bloodmobile at RCB Bank (Highland and 14th) from 1 to 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 30 First Church of the Nazarene from 4 to 8 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 1 Bloodmobile at Exploration Destination from 4 to 8 p.m.

“We are sending blood to Texas hospitals to help with patients, where South Texas blood drives have been canceled,” Dershem said. “We are asking for all donors to help this week, especially O TYPE blood donors.”
