Drake Alan Wilmot
June 24, 1999 – August 7, 2017
Drake Wilmot was born in Enid, Oklahoma on June 24, 1999 to Christine Wilmot and Josh Bennett. Christine married Chris Hempfling a few years later and made a home in Lahoma where Drake would attended Cimarron Public Schools. He later lived with his loving Aunts, Kassie and Sheera, where he graduated with honors from Bixby High School as part of the Class of 2017.
During high school, Drake was a member of the swim team and qualified for state. As a talented swimmer, his first job was as a life guard in Tulsa. His heart was in helping people and he did so in many ways. During high school, he was involved in various civic groups and served as a mentor and counselor for kids at church camps. Drake attended Tulsa Tech and became a National Certified Medical Assistant in order to continue to help and care for people. Community service was important to Drake and he was happy to volunteer wherever he was needed.
Above all, Drake had a passion for the Lord. He always had a message about the Lord to tell you whether you wanted to hear it or not.
Drake went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the young age of 18 years old and will be reunited with his great-grandpa, Bobby Stowers, great-grandparents, Anita and Richard Bennett, great-grandmother, Ruth Smith and cousin Heath Michael Wright.
He will be remembered and missed by his parents, Christine and Chris Hempfling of Lahoma, father, Josh Bennett and wife, Dana of Fairfax, sister, Caitlin Wilmot and Skylar Bartel of Ames and sister, Farrah Hempfling of Lahoma, brothers, Isaac Hempfling of Lahoma and Peyton Terry of Ralston, nephew, Eli Bartel of Ames, great-grandma, Patsy Stowers of Lamont, great-grandparents, Bob and Regina Smith of Prague, grandmother, Brenda Bennett of Fairfax, grandparents, Teresa & Ed Wilmot of Haysville, KS, grandparents, Stan and Suzy Bennett of Bartlesville, grandparents, Chris & Linda Hempfling of Lahoma, best friend and roommate, Dakota Custer of Broken Arrow, aunts Kassie Bennett and Sheera Sirola of Tulsa, uncle, Scott Bennett and wife Elisa of Skiatook, aunt, Ryan and husband Tim Rosenberg of Lamont, uncle, Vance Wilmot of Lamont, and uncle, Brett Wilmot and wife, Marissa of Haysville, KS, as well as numerous great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.
A funeral ceremony to remember Drake will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 2 pm at the United Methodist Church in Lamont, Oklahoma. Burial will follow the ceremony at Braman Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects and view Drake on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 1pm to 8pm and Monday, August 14, 2017 from 8 am to 8 pm at Trout Funeral Home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
