William “Bill” Wallace Laffoon
March 24, 1928 – August 5, 2017
William “Bill” Wallace Laffoon, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away at Ponca City Nursing Home on Saturday, August 5, 2017. He was 89 years old.
Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at Trout Funeral Home on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City with Pastor Andy Jobe officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
William was born on March 24, 1928 to William Wallace Laffoon and Sarah Elizabeth Williams Laffoon in Ponca City, OK. After he was done with school, he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. While in the Navy, he served in San Diego and the Asiatic Pacific before being honorable discharged in Seattle, WA. After his military service, he was married to Nellie Jo Lockhart on June 23, 1949 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Bill had loved his time in California while in the Navy, that he moved his family to the Los Angeles and later San Fransisco. While in California, Bill took up carpentry and found great success in construction. When Bill retired in 1989, he returned to his hometown in Ponca City to live out his days near the lakes and hills of home. He loved spending time with his friends at his favorite place in town, Ody’s.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Drummond of UT, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and niece Judy Collins as well as various other nieces, nephews, and friends..
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Virgil Eugene Laffoon, Margaret “Peggy” Adams, and Mary Elizabeth Clemons.
