Pauline Emma Thomas
(July 17, 1916 – August 3, 2017)
Pauline Emma Thomas, life time resident of Blackwell, died on August 3, 2017, at the age of 101 years. Pauline was born on July 17, 1916, to Oscar and Laura (Beck) Letzig. She graduated Blackwell High School, May, 1934 and attended University Central Oklahoma to persue a degree in law.
She later married Elmer Thomas, who preceded her in death, and together they worked to establish their farms west of Blackwell where they raised two sons, Richard and James(Jim). She has two grandsons, Daryl, who resides in Edmond and Stephen Thomas who has also preceded her in death. Pauline has seven grandchildren who live in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Pauline’s parents and grandparents worked to establish the first Catholic church in Blackwell, now St. Joseph Catholic Church. She served as the organist and played for multiple weddings and church services. Pauline was a member of the Alter Society, plus supporting the Blackwell Catholic School music program. She also enjoyed the Domestic clubs and in later years was very active in the Old Settlers Club. During income tax season, she helped neighbors and friends file their taxes. Pauline has played an active role in helping Blackwell become a great city. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, August 6th. A Rosary will be Sunday, August 5th, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Casketbearers will be Steve Lanie, Mark Cordell, Steve Letzig, Bob Shouse, Frank Moreland and Mike Taylor.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the St. Joseph Alter Society in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
