Texas man killed in collision near Marland

A 19-year-old man was killed in a collision about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday on SH 156 east of County Road 150, about 2.8 miles west of Marland in Noble County.

The victim, 19, was from Dallas. He died at the scene due to a head injury. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Mack dump truck, driven by Jerry Poplin, 55, of Fairfax, collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe. Poplin was transported to Ponca City Alliance Health Medical Center by private vehicle, treated and released.

The driver and passengers in the Tahoe have not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Arlington, Texas, was transported by ambulance  to the Ponca City hospital where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk and leg injuries.

A 23-year-old man, of Oklahoma City, was transported by air to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries.

Another man of unknown age or residence was transported by air to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, and trunk injuries.

The Highway Patrol said the dump truck was westbound on SH156, slowed in traffic due to a crane traveling 15 to 20 MPH in the westbound lane. The Tahoe failed to slow and struck the rear of the truck.
