Cars Discovered in Oklahoma Lake

FOSS, Okla. (AP) – A sheriff says the families of six missing Oklahoma residents should gain some closure with the discovery of cars and bones believed to be connected to the cold cases.

But Sheriff Bruce Peoples says it’s still not clear how the skeletal remains and two vehicles ended up submerged in Custer County’s Foss Lake, about 100 miles west of Oklahoma City.

Divers conducting a training exercise found the 1969 Camaro and early 1950s Chevrolet on Tuesday.

Peoples says the Camaro closely matches one that three teenagers were in when they disappeared in 1970, and the Chevy one that two men and a woman were in when they vanished in 1969.

He says the lake will be treated as a crime scene until investigators determine whether the deaths were accidents.
