The Ponca City Refinery experienced a number of cold-weather related issues that forced a partial shut-down of multiple units on February 15, 2021.  The refinery has fence line and community monitoring in place. The ongoing monitoring has shown no impact to the community.
The refinery will be restarting multiple units over the next several days. Flaring will be visible during the start-up processes which could take place over the next several days.  Flaring is the safest manner for a refinery to dispose of excess hydrocarbons and is regulated by both the Environmental Protection Agency and the state environmental agencies.
