Young Park splash pad now open!

The newest splash pad in Ponca City opened Monday! This morning children Paisley Bruce, Daxten and Finley Gifford enjoyed a game of follow-the-leader through the many pieces of equipment designed to help them get wet and stay cool in  the summer heat.

City Commissioners approved the $140,000 project in March. It is paid for through the city’s hotel-motel tax for tourism and recreation.

Other splash pads in Ponca City are in War Memorial Park and Dan Moran Park. A smalller water feature is part of the Veterans’ Plaza at Fourth Street and Grand Avenue.

The next planned splash pad will be in Attucks Park and will be funded through local and federal funds.
