Fatality collision in Payne County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a fatality collision occurred about 3:20 a.m. Sunday on 9th Street, about 1/10th of a mile west of Brethren Rd., which is about 3.7 miles west of Cushing, OK in Payne County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2013 Kia Optima driven by a juvenile female age 16 of Cushing, OK. She was transported by Transported Creek Ambulance Service to Stillwater Medical Center where she was treated and released.

A passenger in the vehicle, juvenile female, 16, of Cushing, OK was transported by Cushing Fire Department to Cushing Hospital where she was treated and released.

A second passenger in the vehicle, juvenile female, 17, of Agra, OK was transported by AirEvac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in serious condition with head, trunk internal, and leg injuries.

A third passenger in the vehicle, juvenile female, 17, of Agra, OK was transported by Cushing Fire Department to Cushing Hospital then by AirEvac to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in serious condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

A fourth passenger in the vehicle, juvenile female, 17, of Agra, OK was transported by AirEvac to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in serious condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

A fifth passenger in the vehicle, juvenile female, 16, of Agra, OK passed away at the scene due to massive injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that the vehicle was westbound on 9th street. The vehicle was at a high rate of speed when the driver turned off the headlights and went through the intersection at Brethren Rd. The vehicle went airborne for a short distance and lost control once it landed. The vehicle departed the roadway to the right in a broad slide and struck a tree. The vehicle began to roll an unknown number of times coming to rest in a pasture. Passengers 2, 3, 4, and 5 were all ejected during the roll event. The condition of the driver at the time of the accident is under investigation. The cause of the collision is attributed to exceeding the posted speed limit. Seatbelts were equipped, but only in use by the driver and the first passenger.
