Betty Jean Richardson

Betty Jean Richardson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, June 29, 2017, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 89 years.
Betty Jean Richardson was born on August 19, 1927, in Blackwell to Joseph and Helen (Horlivy) Forman. She grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating with the class of 1945. She furthered her education by attending Hill’s Business School in Oklahoma City for a year. Following her return to Blackwell she married Robert Wayne “Bob” Richardson on July 3, 1947, in Oklahoma City and they made Blackwell their home. In the mid 1950’s she began working as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and worked for several years before returning to the home. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed camping and attending her family’s various sporting events. She also loved yard work and gardening, especially tending to her many flowers.
She is survived by her husband of almost seventy years, Bob Richardson of Blackwell; two sons, Ron and Janet Richardson of Coffeyville, Kansas, and Mark and Janice Richardson of Newkirk; six grandchildren, Amy Rice and husband Steve of Lenexa, Kansas, Emily Melchiori and husband Brian of Coffeyville, Kansas, Amber Ramos and husband Andrew of Stillwell, Kansas, Ashly McDaniel and husband Rob of Tyro, Kansas, Cody Richardson and wife Amy of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Ty Richardson and wife Brandi of Wichita, Kansas; and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Newton; father, Joe Forman; step-mother, Lou Ella Forman; and brother, Calvin Forman.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Steve Rice, Brian Melchiori, Andrew Ramos, Rob McDaniel, Cody Richardson and Ty Richardson.
