Highway Patrol identifies drowning victim in Osage County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a drowning which occurred at 3:07 p.m. Friday on Skiatook Lake, located approximately 12 miles west of Skiatook, OK in Osage county. Recovery was made at 4:15 p.m., made by using dragging operations and side scan sonar in 6.5 feet of water approximately 20 yards from the shoreline.

The patrol said the victim was Anothony Scarpati (sic,) 22, of Centerton, AR. Scarpati was transported to Ray Francisco’s funeral home in Tulsa, OK.

Scarpati was swimming at Twin Points Swimming Beach on Skiatook Lake with friends. Scarpati swam out to the marker buoy and when he was returning to shore; he went under for unknown reasons and failed to resurface. He was recovered approximately in the same location as where he went under. The report notes that personal flotation devices were not in use.
