Newkirk teen injured in auto accident

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that an accident took place this morning  at 08:14 on 6/9/2017 on US77 1/10 of a mile south of Dry Road (1/2 South of Newkirk) in Kay County.

According to the report, one vehicle, a 1999 International 4000 dump truck driven by Walter Pappan of Newkirk was southbound on US 77.  The second vehicle, a 2015 Hyundai Accent driven by Mackenzie Guidry of Newkirk was also southbound in the same lane.   The report says that vehicle 1 had signaled and slowed to make a right turn into a private drive.   The driver of vehicle 2 had failed to notice vehicle 1 slowing and impacted the rear of vehicle 1.

According to the report Guidry was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, leg, trunk internal and trunk external injuries.

The driver of vehicle 1 was not injured.
