Flood watch in effect for 6 southern Oklahoma counties
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) – A flood watch is in effect for six southern Oklahoma counties where forecasters say periods of heavy rainfall are expected.
The National Weather Service says the flood watch will remain in effect through Sunday morning for Carter, Johnston, Atoka, Love, Marshall and Bryan counties, including the cities of Ardmore, Atoka, Madill and Durant.
Forecaster say as much as 3 inches of rain is expected to fall across parts of southern Oklahoma through Saturday night, flooding low lying areas of the region.
In addition, a flood warning is in effect until Sunday morning for the Deep Red Creek near Randlett in Cotton County in southern Oklahoma.
Forecasters say the waterway’s depth was 23.1 feet Saturday morning and moderate flooding was being reported. The river’s flood stage at Randlett is 20 feet.
