Ponca City woman driving under the influence collides with charter bus near Tonkawa

TONKAWA, Okla. – A personal injury collision occurred at 11:51 p.m. Thursday evening on Interstate 35 near mile marker 216, approximately 1 mile north of Tonkawa in Kay County.

Two vehicles were involved. Sierra Hanger, 22, of Ponca City was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion south bound in the north bound lanes. Donald Bohnert, 83, of Edmond was driving a 2014 Prevost charter bus north bound in the north bound lanes. The two vehicles collided on the passenger side of both vehicles in the left lane of travel. The charter bus came to rest in the median 1/10th of a mile north of the Ford Fusion.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Hanger was been driving under the influence.

Hanger and her two passengers, male juveniles ages 7 months and 3-years-old, were transported by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to Blackwell Regional Hospital with cuts and scrapes. They were treated and released.

Bohnert did not suffer injuries from the accident. None of the six passengers with him were injured. The passengers were David Kripps, 39, of Oklahoma City, Christian Church, 35, of Bellingham, Wa.,  Jose Morelos-Regollar, 22, of Santa Ana, Ca., Juan Arellano-Gonzales, 27, of Santa Ana, Ca., Alfonso Flores, 19, of Oklahoma City and Derrick Boddy, 41, of Belton, Tx.

Seatbelts were in use by both drivers, as well as Hanger’s two passengers. No one was ejected or pinned in their vehicles.
