The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 2,297 positive COVID-19 cases for Tuesday, Dec. 8. Oklahoma’s seen 220,686 COVID-19 cases overall as 29,744 cases are active.
11 virus-related deaths were documented to put Oklahoma’s death toll to 1,922. None of the deaths reported were for local counties in northern Oklahoma.
Kay County saw 32 new COVID-19 cases, putting the county at 2,153 COVID-19 cases, 26 deaths and 1,804 recoveries. Latest data shows there are 264 active COVID-19 cases for Ponca City, 33 for Blackwell, 26 for Newkirk and 18 for Tonkawa.
For new COVID-19 cases in local counties, there are 63 for Garfield, 35 for Logan, 26 for Osage, 22 for Payne, 14 for Noble, eight each for Pawnee and Washington and one for Grant.

OSDH is also reporting 4,284 new recoveries on Tuesday to put Oklahoma’s recovery total to 189,020. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
As of Tuesday, health officials report that there have been 2,038,973 negative test results, 13,392 total hospitalizations and 1,698 Oklahomans currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
