Woodlands Gifted and Talented students participate in regatta

Woodlands Elementary School 4th and 5th grade Challenge students spent an afternoon at the Phillips 66 pool building racing cardboard boats.
Assisted by engineers from Phillips 66, six student teams had to build boats constructed solely out of these materials: 2 cardboard boxes, 1 plastic sheet, and 1 roll of duct tape.
Teams had to predict what design features would most likely help the boat stay afloat during the race. The boats had to be able to transport two people two lengths of the pool.
Team “Tie-Dye” won the race, and the “Pink Fluffy Super Sailors” won the Spirit award for having the most fun.
