Pawnee man injured in Monday morning accident

A Pawnee man was injured after striking a tree in the roadway of U.S. 64 about 2.5 miles east of Morrison, OK, in Noble County.

The accident occurred about 5:45 a.m. Monday.

Barry W. Copeland, 39, of Pawnee was transported to Stillwater Medical Center by Pawnee EMS, and then to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa by Air Evac. He was admitted in critical conditions with head injuries.

Copeland was travelling westbound on U.S. 64 and struck a tree that had fallen in the roadway. His vehicle continued a tenth of a mile further west, where it departed the roadway to the right and struck a standing tree, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
