Commissioners approve variance for beer garden

Ponca City’s Board of Commissioners approved a request from Main Street Monday night for a variance to the alcoholic beverage ordinance to allow for a beer garden at the Battle of the Burger Bash in June.

This will be the second year for the Bash, a fundraiser for Main Street. It will be held behind the Ponca City Library from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 2, in conjunction with Cruzin’ Grand.

The variance will allow a licensed caterer to sell low-point beer in a designated area at the event. All beer must be consumed in that area.

Tasting kits for the burgers will be sold for $5 in advance or $7 at the event.
