Kay and local counties continue to see increase in COVID-19 cases

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,276 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, Sept. 25. Oklahoma’s seen an overall total of 82,520 COVID-19 cases as 12,616 cases are active.

Twelve additional virus-related deaths were reported Friday to put the state’s death toll to 993. One of those was a Garfield County male in the 65 or older age group. Garfield County also has 16 new COVID-19 cases.

Kay County saw an additional 13 COVID-19 cases on Friday, putting the county’s total to 570 cases, 13 deaths and 422 recoveries. Out of the active cases in the county, there are 120 for Ponca City, eight for Blackwell, seven for Tonkawa, four for Newkirk and one for Kaw City.

For new cases in local counties, there are 32 for Payne County, 25 for Osage County, 15 for Logan County, seven for Washington County and two each for Noble and Pawnee counties,

OSDH is reporting 1,104 new recoveries for Friday, putting the recovery total to 68,911. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.

Officials report that as of Friday, 1,058,144 test results have returned negative. There have been 6,192 total hospitalizations as 590 people are currently hospitalized.
