Kay and local counties continue to see increase in COVID-19 cases

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,089 COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, Sept. 23. Oklahoma has seen a total of 80,161 COVID-19 cases as 12,412 cases are active.

Eight additional virus-related deaths were documented Wednesday. None of which occurred in northern Oklahoma.

Kay County saw an increase with 13 new COVID-19 cases. This puts Kay County’s overall numbers to 544 cases, 13 deaths and 404 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, there are 108 for Ponca City, eight for Newkirk, seven for Blackwell, six for Tonkawa and two for Kaw City.

For new cases in local counties, there are 26 for Garfield County, 21 for Payne County, 13 for Washington County, 11 for Logan County, eight for Osage County, two for Pawnee County and one for Grant County.

Logan County – 433 cases/1 death/352 recoveries

Pawnee County – 247 cases/3 deaths/224 recoveries

Noble County – 142 cases/2 deaths/121 recoveries

Grant County – 41 cases/no deaths/31 recoveries

 

The number of recoveries outweighed the number of new cases as 1,297 new recoveries were reported Wednesday. Oklahoma’s recovery total is now at 66,779. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.

Officials report that as of Wednesday, 1,034,165 test results have returned negative. There have been 6,057 total hospitalizations as 612 people are currently hospitalized.
