Kay County sees 21 new COVID-19 cases for Friday, 1,013 new cases statewide

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 1,013 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, Sept. 4. Oklahoma has seen an overall total of 62,040 cases, and 9,071 cases are active.

Kay County saw another increase with 21 new COVID-19 cases. Kay County has seen 348 cases, 12 deaths and 274 recoveries. Out of the active cases in the county, 51 are in Ponca City, four in Newkirk, three in Blackwell and two in Tonkawa. There are no active cases in Kaw City.

Out of the 11 new virus-related deaths reported on Friday, two of those were females from Garfield County. One was in the 65 or older age group, and the other in the 50-64 age group. Garfield County also has 23 new COVID-19 cases.

As for new cases in other local counties, there are 77 for Payne County, 30 for Washington County, nine for Osage County, six for Logan County and two for Noble County.

OSDH is reporting 676 new recoveries on Friday, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 52,123. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.

Officials also report that as of Friday, 852,355 test results have returned negative. There have been 5,061 total hospitalizations as 518 people are currently hospitalized.
