Blackwell Police arrest 17-year-old homicide suspect

A 17-year-old homicide suspect was arrested by Blackwell Police officers at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday.

The boy, whose name is not being released because of his age, is a suspect in a homicide that occurred in Edmond, in the 500 block of Park Place,  south of the University of Central Oklahoma. 

The death of a woman at that address was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Family members found the body of the woman in a garage, with injuries consistent with homicide, Edmond Police spokeswoman Jenny Wagnon said.

Shortly before midnight, Blackwell Police were notified that the suspect was southbound on Interstate 35 from Braman. Officers arrested the boy at 12:13 a.m., one mile south of the Blackwell exit on I-35.

The suspect was released to Edmond Police officers at 1:50 a.m.
