Wanda May Boesch
(November 3, 1921 – March 30, 2017)
Wanda May Boesch of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday morning, March 30, 2017, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 95 years.
Wanda May Boesch was born on November 3, 1921, on the family farm west of Braman, Oklahoma, to William Lyle “Pat” and Bessie (Wise) Woodruff. She grew up going to school at Battle Axe, Triumph and Bethel west of Braman. She attended three years of high school in Edmond, Oklahoma, and graduated from Blackwell Public Schools with the class of 1939. Following her education, she worked at Browns Jewelry, The Blackwell Journal Tribune, S.H. Kress, before retired from Safeway. She met Ralph E. Boesch while working at Browns Jewelry and they married on May 24, 1942, in Perry, Oklahoma. To this union, two sons were born; Doyce Allan Boesch and Ronald Edward Boesch. She enjoyed quilting, reading and vegetable gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons; Doyce Boesch and wife Jacquline of Washington, D.C., and Ronald Boesch and wife Rhonda of Blackwell; one brother, Glen Woodruff of Tennessee; 4 grandchildren, Scott Boesch of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Gina Whitaker of Bridgecreek, Oklahoma, Jody and Allison Carroll, Charlotte North Carolina, Jason and Kelsey Miller of Baltimore, Maryland; and six great grandchildren, Jimmy Whitaker, Carson Whitaker, Aidan Carroll, Elizabeth Carroll, Rory Miller and McKenna Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph; one sister, Evelyn Walters; and two brothers, Peyton Woodruff and Lindy Woodruff.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Mark Mozeik, St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Jason Boesch, Ronald Brown, Raymond Thiele, Lawrence Angle, Gary Heintz and Don Klein.
