Betty McKeever
(December 13, 1925 – March 28, 2017)
Betty Good McKeever, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. At the age of 91. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Phil Porter, Rick LeMonnier, Stu Van Orden, Cody Porter, Jacob Byrnes and Mark Sanders.
Betty was born in a Danish community in Lincoln County, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Sarah Nielson Larson, on Dec. 13, 1925. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943 and Kansas State University with a degree in Home Economics in 1946. The next day, she married Wayne Good, DVM and moved to Ponca City. They had four children – John, Sally, Teresa, and Rosemary. She was an excellent seamstress and her children were her greatest joy. Betty was very active as a leader in PTA, campfire girls, cub scouts, and taught Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church. She also was a life member of AAUW. In 1976, she entered the real estate business and was one of the original owners of Group One Realtors. She handled all of their closings. After twenty years in real estate, Betty retired and married Leonard McKeever. They enjoyed family gatherings, attending church, travel, volunteer work, and painting. Betty played bridge with her Wednesday group for over 65 years. She also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. Betty passed peacefully surrounded by family. She was a woman of faith and has now received her wonderful promotion to be with the Lord Jesus.
She is survived by daughter, Sally and husband, Phil Porter of Edmond, daughter, Teresa and husband, Rick LeMonnier of Ponca City, daughter, Rosemary and husband, Stu VanOrden of Stillwater, son, John Good, grandson, Cody and wife, Lauren of Arvada, Colorado, granddaughter, Katie and husband, Jacob Byrnes of Redondo Beach, California, grandson, Kris Yurczyk of Stillwater, great-granddaughter, Layla Porter of Arvada, Colorado, brother, The Honorable Edward Larson of Topeka, Kansas, as well as several nieces and a nephew.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Dr. Wayne L. Good and Leonard McKeever, sister in law, Mary Larson, and brother in law, Dr. John Good.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, her home church for over 70 years.
