OSBI investigating Payne County death

Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a fire in Rural Payn County about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

The fire was reported near 68th Street and East Range Road. Firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames and crews discovered a very badly burned male body.

Payne County sheriff deputies were called to the homicide scene. The Payne County Sheriff then called OSBI special agents for assistance with the investigation.

OSBI special agents have been on scene since 5 a.m. collecting evidence. Investigators need to determine the man’s identity to establish a starting point in the case. Investigators are asking for anyone who knows of a man missing recently to please call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
