New virus-related deaths for Osage and Garfield counties, 794 new COVID-19 cases statewide

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 794 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, August 14. This puts Oklahoma’s total of cases to 46,897 since the pandemic started, and 6,971 cases are active.

Kay County saw two new COVID-19 cases to put the overall total to 256 cases, 11 deaths and 219 recoveries. As for active cases in the county, Ponca City has 17, Blackwell with six, Kaw City and Newkirk both with two and Tonkawa with one

Six additional virus-related deaths were reported Friday. One was an Osage County male in the 50-64 age group, and a Garfield County female in the 65 or older group. Oklahoma’s death toll is at 644. Osage County also has ten new COVID-19 cases, and Garfield County has 26 new cases.

As for new cases in other local counties, Payne and Washington counties both have 15, Logan, Noble and Pawnee counties each with two and Grant County with one.

OSDH also reports 627 new recoveries, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 39,282. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.

As of Friday, 696,345 test results for Oklahoma have returned negative. There have been 3,953 total hospitalizations, and 567 people are currently hospitalized.
