The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 854 new positive COVID-19 cases for Friday, August 7. Oklahoma has now seen 42,255 cases since the start of the pandemic, and 6,654 cases are active.
Kay County is reporting an increase with five new cases, putting the county’s stats at 238 cases, 11 deaths and 190 recoveries. Out of the active cases, Ponca City has 24, Blackwell, Kaw City and Tonkawa each have four and Newkirk has three.
As for new cases in local counties, Garfield County saw the most with 24, Payne County has 19, Washington County with 10, Four for both Logan and Pawnee counties and one for Garfield County.
OSDH is reporting seven new virus-related deaths Friday. None of which occurred in northern Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s death toll is at 600.
New data also shows 681 new recoveries for the state, putting Oklahoma’s recovery total to 35,001. In order for a recovery to count, the recovered patient must not be deceased or hospitalized and it has been 14 days since their report.
Health officials report that as of Thursday, there have been 643,560 negative test results overall. Officials also report that there have been 3,555 total hospitalizations, and 561 patients are currently hospitalized.
