The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Flood Advisory for Central Kay County until 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
At 6:47 a.m., NWS radar indicated an area of moderate rain from showers and thunderstorms. This rainfall combined with areas of heavy rain that has recently fallen will cause flooding of streams, creeks and poorly drained locations in the advisory area.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Ponca City, Blackwell, Tonkawa, Newkirk, Kaw City, Braman, Kildare, Kaw Lake, Nardin and Peckham.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Turn around, don`t drown.
