OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – An Oklahoma prosecutor says he will act as special prosecutor and review the results of an inquiry into the Oklahoma City-based charity Feed The Children.
Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater told The Oklahoman that he was asked by the state attorney general’s office to review the findings of an investigation into complaints about the organization.
Feed The Children audit committee Chair Mike Hogan told the newspaper the allegations have been reviewed by outside counsel and found to be baseless and without merit. Hogan said the organization will cooperate fully with investigators.
The newspaper reports the complaints were made by former Feed The Children president and CEO J.C. Watts and allege misuse of funds. Watts stepped down in November after less than 10 months as head of the organization.
