City approves resolution supporting grant application

Beverly Bryant - February 28, 2017 4:02 pm

A resolution supporting a grant application for federal funds to renovate the City Center Building at 400 East Central, owned by the Ponca City Development Authority, was approved by the Ponca City Board of Commissioners Monday night.

The grant request by PCDA is being made to the Economic Development Administration Public Works and Economic Adjustment Program and seeks federal funds in an amount not to exceed $1,250,000. The grant would be a 50-50 match with half the funds coming from PCDA.

Rhonda Skrapke, Grants Administrator, said that on Feb. 9, commissioners approved a resolution setting forth its support of a grant application in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000. The resolution set forth specific amounts for the grant match.
The project was scaled back to request federal funds in an amount not to exceed $1,250,000, and PCDA’s match requirement has been reduced.
The resolution in support of the grant application was not required by the grant application process, but will be looked on favorably by the EDA, Skrapke said. She said a decision on the grant should be made within the next 60 days.
