A personal injury collision occurred at 2:14 p.m. Saturday afternoon along U.S. Highway 177 just south of Brake Road, about a mile-and-a-half north of Blackwell in Kay County.
Tommie Sanders, 89, of Blackwell was driving a 2002 Buick Le Sabre southbound on U.S. 177 when a 2005 Ford F150, driven by Jerry Pitts, 44, of Talala, Oklahoma, crossed the center line and struck Sanders’ vehicle. Both vehicles departed the roadway to their right. Pitts’ vehicle came to rest on the east side of the road, while Sanders’ vehicle came to a rest on the west side of the road.
Pitts was not injured, but Sanders was transported by EagleMed and admitted in fair condition to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, due to internal trunk injuries.
