Sportsmen’s memorial benefit dinner Saturday

Tickets are still available for Saturday night’s Sportsmen’s Dinner and Wild Game Feast at the Stagecoach Event Center in Newkirk.
The dinner is in memory of Craig Strickland and Chase Morland, two Arkansas hunters who died in extreme weather at Kaw Lake.
Spencer Grace, the Kay County Game Warden, is the force behind the dinner. He said several businesses have stepped up to help, including River Ridge Construction, Myers Agency, and Action Towing to name a few. If you or your business would like to help out, contact Grace or Adam Beck.
All donations go to The CraigStricklandFoundation.
For those coming from out of town and planning to stay overnight, the Holiday Inn Express in Ponca City is discounting rooms for the event.
The menu is smoked elk and pork, fried fish and quail, jambalaya, sides, homemade bread, and Dutch oven cobbler for dessert.
Many family members of Strickland and Morland plan to speak at the event.
Tickets are available at RCB Bank at 14th and Prospect in Ponca City or Eastman National Bank in Newkirk.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. There will be raffles and door prizes.
