Robert Paul “Bob” Schaefer
(December 18, 1931 – January 27, 2017)
Robert Paul “Bob” Schaefer, age 85, long-time resident of Ponca City, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 in Ponca City.
The rosary will be recited at a vigil held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in the Chapel at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory with Deacon Dick Robinson officiating. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday February 2, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating. Following the mass Bob will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ponca City. Casket bearers will be his grandsons Jonathan, Justin, Spencer, Jackson, Richard, Bryan and Robert. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Robert was born on December 18, 1931 to Louis P. Schaefer and Corinne Mae Sweitzer Schaefer in Tiffin, OH. He was raised in Tiffin, OH, graduating from high school there. He was united in marriage to his beloved Mary Bonner on March 27, 1953 in Houston, TX. They lived in Houston and Ft. Worth before moving to Ponca City in 1964. Bob worked at Conoco throughout his career in Ponca City ultimately serving as Associate Director for the Computer and Telecommunications Service department. After retirement, Bob and Mary traveled extensively, camping and fishing along the way. In addition, Bob took up making stained glass artwork. Rotary Club was another of Bob’s passions, having been a member of the Ponca City Rotary Club since 1985.
Survivors include his dear children: Roger L. Schaefer and wife Robin of Spring, TX, James E. Schaefer and wife Diann of Newkirk, and Carissa Mullenix and husband Brian of Ponca City grandchildren: Jonathan Schaefer, Justin Schaefer, Richard Corbett II, Spencer Schaefer, Jackson Schaefer, Kayla Schaefer, Rachel Schaefer, Bryan Schaefer, Amber Schaefer, Mariah Rogers and Robert Mullenix; Great Grandchildren: Conner and Jentry Schaefer, Melanie and Bethanie Schaefer, Alexandria and Richard Corbett III, and Helden Schaefer, as well as his great great grandchild Harper Marie De La Torre.
Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, sister Carolyn Grafe, brother in law Richard Grafe, brothers Donald Schaefer and Howard A. Schaefer, sister Dorothy Schaefer, sister in law Kathryn L. Schaefer, brother in law Orva Reiter, nephew Rodney H. Schaefer, niece Diane M. Schaefer, wife Mary Bonner Schaefer, and son Karl Joseph Schaefer.
