Georgia man arrested in Kay County

The Tonkawa Police Department reached out to the Kay County Sheriff’s Office at around 5:40 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of dogs locked in a storage unit at a mini storage unit in Tonkawa.

The owner of the mini storage unit, Richard Nelson, 55, of Georgia, was called by police, arrived to cut the lock of the unit. Nelson was then arrested by deputies and then transported to the Kay County Detention Center on pending charges. The two dogs found in the unit were rescued and taken to Tonkawa Animal Control.
