(January 4, 1922 – January 14, 2017)

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Wilkey, formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Saturday morning, January 14, 2017, at the Grace Living Center in Jenks, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years.

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Wilkey was born on January 4, 1922, in Braman, Oklahoma, to Raymond and Gladys (Vosburgh) Kohler. She grew up in Braman attending Braman Public Schools. She graduated from Braman High School in 1940. She married Duane A. Wilkey on December 14, 1941, in Garber, Oklahoma, and they settled in Wichita, Kansas, where she worked for Beechcraft. In 1950, they moved to Blackwell where her husband established Wilkey Plumbing. She worked as the receptionist for the family business and continued serving her family as a homemaker. She served as a den mother transporting her son and the other scouts to their various events. She was also active in the scout paper drive, a activity she pursued beyond her son’s tenure. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She served as an offering counter for many years. She enjoyed outside activities, especially gardening and visiting with friends.

She is survived by her son, Larry E. Wilkey of Jenks, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Taryn Wilkey of Jenks, and Tyler Wilkey and wife April of Tulsa; and two great grandchildren, Madison and Jaxon Wilkey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Edward Kohler; and a sister, Thelma Padgett.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. Harold Phillips of River Oaks Church in Jenks officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
