Jerry Starn – Veteran
April 25, 1941 – January 8, 2017
Jerry Richard Starn, born April 25, 1941 in Wayne County, IN, died January 8, 2017 in Ponca City, OK after his battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Madden) Starn, his parents, Robert H Starn and Iva Mae Minix, his brothers, Bobby, Jimmy and Jay Starn and his sister, Barbar Raper.
He is survived by his daughters, Staci Adams and husband, Curtis of Ponca City, OK; Jeri Anderson and husband, Jim of Tulare CA.; Kristen Sisco and her husband Will of Ponca City, OK and Elizabeth Richardson and her husband Roy of Richmond, KY. His grandchildren, Amanda Forguson of Fayetteville, AR, Magan Adams of Ponca City, OK Parker Anderson and wife Megan of American Fork, UT Connor Anderson of Orinda, CA, Trevor Anderson of Tulare, CA, Trey Starn of Ponca City, OK, Johnny Ellington of Richmond, KY. He had 15 great grandchildren.
He is survived by nine siblings, Bonnie and (Earl) Tillery, Diana and (Roy) Patton, Jeanie Cassel, Jack and (Sharion) Starn, Patty Kirkland, Jan and (Dorothy) Starn, Joseph and (Sandy) Starn and Suzie (Kim) Kibele, all of Richmond, IN.
Jerry attended Richmond High School. He joined the United States Army in 1960-1964.
He spent the majority of his Army career in Germany. While there he drove a tank, was a paratrooper and was guard on the wall separating East and West Berlin. He always wanted to go back to Germany when the wall fell in 1989.
Jerry worked many jobs and started working at the age of 7, cleaning up behind a horse drawn milkman wagon and all kinds of buildings from homes to prisons.
There will be a visitation only on Wednesday, Jan 11, 2017 at Grace Memorial Chapel Funeral Home during the time of 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Jerry will be transferred to Richmond, IN where he will have funeral services at Stegall, Berheide and Orr Funeral Home, where he will then be laid to rest in Richmond, IN.
Due to death of both Jerry Richard Starn and Joyce Madden Starn being less than 11 months apart, the family is requesting financial assistance in lieu of flowers for the services.
