Deputies recover stolen trailer

About 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Kay County deputies responded to the Ranch Drive Area to check out an abandoned residence that may have been broken into.

After arriving, deputies noticed a customized bumper pulled trailer parked behind a storage shed in the back. The trailer was noticeably out of place where it was parked, raising suspicion.

Deputy Tim Peters contacted other agencies and deputies to check to see if the trailer had been reported stolen. Detective from the Ponca City Police Department called and stated that another trailer identical to that one was owned by a business in Ponca City.

The next day, Peters, on his day off, made contact with the owner of the business and he confirmed that he had two of these trailers and one had been stolen before he knew it was even gone.

Reports were taken and the trailer was delivered by a Kay County deputy back to the rightful owner.

“As the Sheriff of this county, I am very grateful to have such a great group of deputies that work hard for the citizens of this county. This was outstanding work by all agencies involved in this case,” said Sheriff Steve Kelley.
