OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak will serve in a new role with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), according to a press release from his office.

This week NAIC members elected Doak as the Vice Chair of the Midwest Zone. He will also represent the Midwest Zone on the Government Relations Leadership Council.

“I’m honored to take on this new position,” Doak said. “Since I was elected insurance commissioner, I’ve continued to take on a more active role with the NAIC. I’m looking forward to good things in 2017.”

The NAIC is the U.S. standard-setting and regulatory support organization created and governed by insurance regulators from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the NAIC, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer review and coordinate regulatory oversight.
